Technical overview
AST-1015-KF PPM O2 transmitter has a KF-40 flange, specifically designed for easy in-line mounting on Gloveboxes. AST-1015-KF PPM O2 transmitter comes with 316 SS sensor housing and fittings. The transmitter does not require any external sample system. Its design meets the intrinsic safety requirements when used in conjunction with an intrinsic safety barrier MTL-7706 or equivalent. The salient feature of the transmitter allows the user to select any analysis range between 0-5 PPM and 0-25%. The 4-20mA signal output from the transmitter is locked on the selected analysis range. The proprietary oxygen sensor used in the transmitter speeds up the recovery from higher oxygen levels to low oxygen levels, for example, the recovery from air to 10 PPM is under 45 minutes.
AST-1015-KF PPM O2 transmitter offers the user the flexibility to selectable any analysis range in the field. The provision of fine-tuned temperature compensation feature ensures that the transmitter’s measurement accuracy is not compromised even in varying ambient conditions. The user-selectable digital filter provides optimum signal to noise ratio with acceptable system response time to any step-change in oxygen concentration. The transmitter is provided with a standard PPM O2 sensor, Model AST-333. This sensor ideal for measuring oxygen in inert and gaseous hydrocarbon gas streams.
AST-1015-KF PPM O2 transmitter can be used in lower operating temperature range, for example, down to -10°C (14°F). However, this requires the Z-series O2 sensors. The Z-series sensor model AST-333Z PPM O2 sensor not only extends the lower operating temperature range but also shows excellent compatibility with gas streams containing any level of CO2 gas. No routine sensor maintenance is needed. The transmitter designed and built in the USA.
Applications and guidance
Advanced Sensor Technology
AST-1015-KF PPM O₂ Transmitter
The AST-1015-KF40 PPM O2 transmitter from Applied Sensing Technologies features a KF-40 flange, which allows easy in-line mounting on gloveboxes and sealed process systems. As a result, users can install the transmitter directly into the gas line without additional sampling hardware.
The AST-1015-KF40 PPM O2 transmitter includes a 316 stainless steel sensor housing and fittings, which provide excellent corrosion resistance and durability. In addition, the transmitter does not require an external sample system, which simplifies installation and reduces overall system complexity.
Moreover, the instrument meets intrinsic safety requirements when used with an MTL-7706 intrinsic safety barrier or equivalent. Therefore, it can operate safely in hazardous environments.
One of the key features of the AST-1015-KF transmitter is its field-selectable analysis range. Users can select any range between 0–5 PPM and 0–25% oxygen. At the same time, the 4–20 mA analog output automatically locks to the selected measurement range, which ensures stable signal transmission to control systems.
The transmitter also incorporates a proprietary electrochemical oxygen sensor. Because of this advanced sensor design, the instrument recovers quickly from high oxygen levels. For example, the system recovers from air to 10 PPM in less than 45 minutes, allowing rapid return to trace oxygen monitoring.
Furthermore, the AST-1015-KF transmitter offers fine-tuned temperature compensation. Consequently, the transmitter maintains accurate oxygen measurements even when ambient temperature conditions change. In addition, users can enable a digital filter to improve the signal-to-noise ratio while maintaining a fast response to changes in oxygen concentration.
The transmitter is supplied with the AST-333 PPM oxygen sensor, which performs reliably in inert gases and gaseous hydrocarbon streams.
For applications requiring lower operating temperatures, the transmitter can operate down to -10 °C (14 °F) when used with the AST‑333Z Oxygen Sensor. In addition to extending the temperature range, this Z-series sensor provides excellent compatibility with gas streams containing any level of CO₂.
Finally, the transmitter requires no routine sensor maintenance, which helps reduce operating costs and downtime. The AST-1015-KF transmitter is designed and manufactured in the United States by Applied Sensing Technologies.
